Solo Red was shown at the solo exhibition of the artist at Kivotos Gallery in the context of the Aegeanale curated by Sozita Goudouna. The exhibition showcases the post-abstract expressionist work of artist Sofia Housou. Housou’s works operate in a dramatic background where colour becomes the vocabulary for her to express and communicate shuttle and complex messages. These paintings subvert our art-historical notions of abstraction and abstract expressionism, while they inextricably and poetically blend reality with imagination, the mysterious with the plain, the flat with the profound. A design product designed by artist Sofia Housou will be sold in the elegant boutique of Kivotos Hotel in Mykonos. The internationally Saatchi merit-winning creative has designed an exclusive mug dedicated to the profound and abstract forms of greek ceramics. This original mug is characterized by an undefined form with a series of curves, reminiscent of the cycladic waves. The proceeds will be donated to charity “Elpida” Association of Friends of Children With Cancer.
