About The Artwork

I took the liberty of using the striking head of the American realistic painter Andrew Wyeth for this work. In terms of detail, I was able to match his weathered head with the organic parts with which the depicted figure envelopes itself. It must express a fanaticism that is at once exhausting and portrays a kind of out-of-control technocratization. The current power networks preach optimal protection of people and nature, but the opposite is gradually becoming more and more clear. People in old age are also referred to as an unnecessary burden. The fact that they are people with a very rich baggage of experiences, knowledge and skills now suddenly no longer seems decisive. Respect and reverence now seem to be old-fashioned hobbies. You can of course also see this work as a villain who dresses in a natural/ eco-looking jacket, like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Born the 31 of July 1964, Stephan B. Reisig lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.Stephan B. Reisig (57) is a painter who has lately been drawing mostly with colored pencils on paper. Sometimes he uses mixed techniques like charcoal/pencil and acrylic paint on paper. The style can be described as realism with a certain aspect of alienation and depersonalization of the depicted individual which gives it an urban anonymity. In his newest series he wants to achieve to express the pureness of used materials and the pureness and directness of the depicted (human/ animal) forms trough painting. And drawing, straight on the canvas. But mostly on paper. http://www.behance.net/gallery/Illustrations-Stephan-B-Reisig/12728531 www.stephanreisig.com / www.lama-topart.nl/catalog_showdetail.asp?type_id=&cat_id=&artist_id=42&
