Shading Joan Miró's last studio in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, stands a mighty pine tree. Its trunk is covered in so much cascading golden resin that it appears like candle wax dripping down in diamond-like light play. It is fascinating and ever-changing in the light. Sitting drawing it is an amazing experience, especially given that metalpoint itself is a medium of great light play of the metal particles on the drawing surface.
