This work was created as a part of installation which I had put up at my native home during a family event. My Grandfather always wanted people (family and friends) to be visiting family home and always being united and together. As most of ours and our father’s generation migrated out of the village for education, career etc he would write letters to each one of us to come together and see him and see each other. This moment was captured at one of those get together and is a classic family picture showing four generations of a family being together. The work is a drawing from a photograph done from keeping a carbon paper and drawing through the outlines of each and every family person and then rendering the shades inside, with pencil giving intricate details of each character in the picture. This whole process of drawing was like meditating and chanting with the memories of that particular time in childhood. It’s almost like a deeper way of remembering your pleasant past, it gave me a sense of touching my grandfather, his hands, his clothes, his posture, so it was a very beautiful way of drawing through your memories.
