Hugely inspired by recent trips to Andalusia in Spain where I visited some amazing sites including the Alhambra in Granada and more recently the Cathedral and The Alcazar in Seville. Most of these blossom and flower photographs were taken within the beautiful grounds of the Alhambra and The Alcazar. Many of these original studies were used to create an extensive collection of fabric designs and artworks for both abstract and figurative patterns including the styles and designs of the amazing tiling and architectural features.

NB: The paper size is the XL Gallery Edition - 40x40 inches (approx 102x102cms) - with the image approx 33 inches (84 x 84 cms) square. Please contact via Saatchi if you have any further questions regards alternative sized editions and formats. The artwork is sold ready to frame.

* A mandala (Sanskrit मण्डल, maṇḍala – literally "circle") is a geometric configuration of symbols. In modern, typically American and European use, "mandala" has become a generic term for any circle ornament which can be used as a relaxing tool, for diagnostic or in art therapy.

In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. It is used as a map (in Shintoism) in the Indian religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism or Japanese religion of Shintoism representing deities, or in the case of Shintoism, paradises, kami or actual shrines.

In New Age, the mandala is a diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a time-microcosm of the universe, but it originally meant to represent wholeness and a model for the organisational structure of life itself, a cosmic diagram that shows the relation to the infinite and the world that extends beyond and within minds and bodies.
