Vestment #1976 Blue Collage

The Vestment Series Monotypes began by reflecting on my grandmothers inherited artifacts and remnants of laces. I began collating the pattern tissue pieces from my 1970 sewing days and constructing the figure, or ghost of the figure, using the life size shapes. During the early 2000’s, I was traveling to Asia while maintaining my studio in Chinatown- that certainly influenced the narrative of the figure in my work during this period. Both fragile and graphic, the sewing tissue patterns as collage pieces add to the twentieth century story of my artistic oeuvre.
