In a world where flowers were forbidden to bloom, Eleanor discovered a mystical tulip sprouting amidst the roots of an ancient tree. The flower, with petals as dark as the night and an aura that shimmered with enigmatic energy, was said to be extinct. Eleanor, a botanist in hiding since the Great Floral Purge, was drawn to its mystical allure. Every day she’d sneak out to nurture it with water and whispered secrets of a time when flowers ruled the earth. One day, as Eleanor poured water into the soil and whispered another tale of blossoming fields, something miraculous occurred - the tulip responded! It unveiled its hidden colors; each petal painted with hues of galaxies far beyond human reach. In that moment, both Eleanor and the tulip realized they weren’t alone in their silent rebellion against a world void of natural beauty.

Martine Mooijenkind, also known as Knutseltroep, is a self-taught collage artist and graphic designer from Gouda, The Netherlands. She creates surreal collages using vintage materials and digital techniques. She also works as a care attendant for the disabled . Her artworks have been published in various magazines and online platforms. Mooijenkind started making collages in 2010, when she discovered a box of old magazines in her attic. She was fascinated by the images and stories from the past, and decided to cut them out and rearrange them into new compositions. She soon developed her own style, combining elements from different sources and eras to create surreal scenes and characters. Mooijenkind uses both analog and digital methods to create her collages. She often scans her cut-outs and edits them on Photoshop, adding filters, textures and effects to enhance the mood and atmosphere of her works. She sometimes incorporates her own drawings and photographs into her collages, creating a personal touch. Mooijenkind draws inspiration from various sources, such as music, literature, cinema, nature and dreams. She is influenced by artists such as Hannah Höch, Max Ernst, and Salvador Dali. She likes to explore themes such as identity, memory, nostalgia, fantasy and absurdity in her works. Mooijenkind has exhibited her collages in several venues in The Netherlands and abroad. She has also participated in various collaborative projects with other artists and organizations. Mooijenkind is currently working on new collages and projects. She hopes to share her passion for collage art with more people and inspire them to unleash their creativity.
