About The Artwork

In 2013 we went on a walking holiday in France to see the 'art refuges' which Andy Goldsworthy had been commissioned to build in the hills near Dignes. It turned out that our hotel Villa Gaia http://www.hotel-villagaia-digne.com/ was the same one Goldsworthy stayed in during their construction, indeed our bedroom was the one he used to have. I discovered a cupboard hidden in the panelling and decided to place something there in the hope that Goldsworthy might discover it. In fact the hotelier found it some months later and contacted me. I explained the object, and he liked the idea, but I don't know if he left it there. Separately I made a sketch in the hotel guestbook of a landscape project in homage to Goldsworthy, so that should survive.
