About The Artwork
'Riptide' is a textile collage composed from hand-painted fabrics in linen, cotton and canvas. The design of the contemporary textile collage was created to emphasize themes of water, patterns, cross-currents, and the portrayal of flowing water. The collage is hand-stitched and comes with a modern metal hanging rod which can be hung invisibly from a single hook. Permanent, colorfast textile paints were used; the entire collage was hand-stitched. This can be hung with either side showing - refer to additional photos. The full size photo with finish side facing emphasizes the sense of currents and flowing water; the reverse side is a variation with raw edges, showing the marks of hand stitching and the handcrafted textures.
