Die Peitsche Collage

Friederike Biebl, born in Medellin (Columbia), is a fine artist from Berlin. In her works the artist presents a new and surprising, very personal interpretation of the modern figure, which she realises using her artistic means of painting, photography and collage. She says that she is searching for a form "in which to realise artistically the multi-layered, isolated character of my figures' identities" and achieves this with an abstract-figurative expression that reveals the individual's isolation in an unusual way; among other things, by providing information about weights in the titles. One might talk of inner pictorial landscapes, which is confirmed by the artist's choice of titles, e.g. in the series In the Display Window of My Self. For her last show in Künstlerhaus Bethanien she has created an interwoven survey of her works and text fragments entitled "The Archaeology of Existence". www.bethanien.de
