Firebird

Ballet has always been an art form which has excited me; I find the connection between music and movement fascinating. I have been exploring this connection, and its link with the visual arts in my work. It was a sensational moment when I realized that I could relate my ideas about music and movement to my brush-stroke and so interpret the world of ballet in my art work. Learning to control a brush requires much training and experience, but this is art only at its technical level. To bring it alive, the artist has to put oneself into the world one wants to interpret, and combine one’s own feeling towards the subject with the brush-stroke every moment that one uses the brush. Inspired by the Royal Ballet production ‘Firebird’, I exp
