ARTIST STATEMENT

I received a B.F.A in Art from UC Irvine and studied with Ed Moses and Laddie John Dill. They were the first to recommend that I not remove the wax as in a batik, but to add it in layers. I continue to work with wax and mixed media. My goal in art is to blur the definition for the viewer of what is painterly and what is found. I find that using wax as a neutral element provides a “canvas” that can be incorporated in many ways.
