When I talk about the representation of reality, I'm not referring to the relationship that the image may have with its referent, but rather to the unique way in which the image substitutes, interprets, and translates this reality through a process of recognition via mental abstraction that corresponds to the iconic signifier and the referent. Another one of my interests has been time, our perception of it varying from one person to another, and from one culture to another. One of the things that fascinates me the most is how we perceive time through our bodies, senses, and other bodies, including our natural and biological environment. It is a fact that as time passes, everything changes. Matter is an entity that regenerates, changes, heals, endures, passes, it's clothing, and a vestige, a container and a liberator. I am interested in how our ways of seeing time lead us to see in these transformations the records of its passage, trying to understand that transformation is something that occurs daily within our environment and that it is subject to the value judgments that we implant to each situation, always depending on our perceptions. The proposal that arises from the idea of questioning various concepts seeks to invite reflection by resorting to an artistic technique as a tool to highlight this concern that has always generated transformation for me. I am a Colombian artist with over 20 years of experience. Throughout my artistic practice, experimentation has been the cornerstone of many of my projects. I typically develop series where my main interest is to work on concepts such as time, the ephemeral, the eternal, ecological themes, social-environmental awareness, and personal topics. Through observing my reality, I delve into the responsibility of our actions, concluding that as human beings, we must embrace nature since we are part of it. Understanding the importance of my inner world, as well as that of all individuals, has always been linked to my work, while not neglecting to critique society which, in my view, prioritizes material interests over harmony and balance with the environment. However, I also reflect on my own life; I am very self-critical, analyzing my own processes of physical and mental transformation, accepting and recognizing myself, which is reflected in much of my work. All of this has led me to think about human survival, particularly my own, my son's, and my family's. In this way, I contemplate how to solve and generate changes from individuality and social consciousness through my language, art.
