About The Artwork
This year (2019) I decided to only take pictures at night, in the dark. Cities look very different at night with all the lights on the street and also from cars and buildings. However, I am looking for places without light. I use a flash to make trees and flowers visible against their dark background. Sometimes the effect is almost unreal and we do not immediately see what the object is. This photo is now only available in prints / canvas (unlimited / unsigned edition). On request i can make a limited edition fine art print.

Kees Schouten, 1961, Netherlands. I graduated ArtSchool in 1984 as a painter and printmaker. I was awarded by The Dutch Art Society in 1987 (for painting). First showed photoworks in 1995. From 2010 to 2017 i only made photoworks, still lifes. In 2017 i started to make collages and prints again after quite a few years. In 2022 i had a large studio built in the corner of my garden. Since then i am painting again. I am Teaching Photography at Graphic Design College, Utrecht (NL).
