Photograph taken of Marsden Bay, South Shields; North East England. I was drained as the drugs were failing and I was not sure I would ever live a life of meaning; without pain. I'm not sure why but a left field, desperate act saw me visit an internationally renowned healer. Would this work? Was faith the key?! I did not sleep that night and went to the coast in darkness, waiting for dawn. Lots of other photographers were there, they knew what I did not. A wonderful clear sunrise was due. I sat with tea in flask, huddled on rock, cold and waiting for the sun. The sun broke the clouds and the sun burned red and orange. It was wonderful and my spirits lifted. The image captured was worthy of the most sublime painting. I was happy; went home to bed and rested. Now; many months later...I am getting stronger! I hope this image inspires and uplifts that each dawn can bring good things.

My passions and the things that inspire my work; are my local coastline as we have wonderful beaches and cliffs; which host much wildlife from dolphins to cormorants and gulls. Like many, I am concerned about Climate Change and the natural world and this feeds some of the topics of my work. In regards style, I love high colour and pattern and enjoy solving the problem of marrying all my stylistic loves in single images. I have found that as I am developing as an artist both my painting and photography are becoming more similar in approach.
