This little guy also got slightly damaged in the move to California. It has a tiny dent in the edge where the flat of the picture plane meets the birch cradle. I have discounted it as a result of this imperfection. This 6x8 inch gouache painting on cradled board (see additional images for details) features a small striped ceramic pot cradling a white orchid plant. The plant blooms more beautifully than mine ever do more than once, captured at the peak of its beauty. This painterly piece features textured brush strokes in matte gouache and my favorite ultramarine blue background detail. Striped green leaves arch hither and thither from the base of the plant and a navy and bright green floral tablecloth completes the simple still life scene.
