About the Painting: For over 40 years, Benton End in Suffolk, UK served as the residence of the legendary artist and plantsman Cedric Morris, who also founded the East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing. Within his garden, Morris dedicated himself to breeding bearded irises and even named 90 distinct cultivars, all bearing the prestigious 'Benton' prefix. This year, landscape designer Sarah Price drew inspiration from Morris's Iris paintings to create the highly acclaimed Nurture Landscapes Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. 2023 As one artist passing the torch to another (Sarah herself being an artist before a landscape designer), Shizico Yi embarked on a series of paintings inspired by the garden's exquisite beauty. Concurrently, this project marks the beginning of Shizico's Golden Period, an exploration centred around the colour yellow and its potential healing effects for individuals experiencing grief. this painting is the 2nd Benton Irises painting of this series.
