About The Artwork
This was created during 'Lockdown' and it shows the various creatures I have seen in person while walking South Shields Coast. As a child I started painting animals and had not done so since then, until now. Although I wanted to show the animals realistically, I wanted something more graphic to place them in. The landscape is the local coast and the large rock formation is Trowe Rocks, South Shields. Once the site of and old quarry by the sea, named The Nest.

I am a painter, photographer and graphic artist living and working on the North East Coast of England. My passions and the things that inspire my work; are my local coastline as we have wonderful beaches and cliffs; which host much wildlife from dolphins to cormorants and gulls. Like many, I am concerned about Climate Change and the natural world and this feeds some of the topics of my work. In regards style, I love high colour and pattern and enjoy solving the problem of marrying all my stylistic loves in single images. I have found that as I am developing as an artist both my painting and photography are becoming more similar in approach.
