About The Artwork

Painting is a way to communicate with color. The more I paint, the more I want to observe the little things around me. I associate color with emotion, motion, and response. Each stain brings with it a conversation. When there’s a question, we expect a response. The only way to listen to these conversations is to stop and actually listen to them. To me, there are no wrong or right answers when it comes to art. Every stain, mistake, or gesture trains the next one, making my next move better. I consider painting as part of my own narrative. Every stain creates a change in my personality. It makes me a little wiser, a little more vulnerable, and more self-conscious. I’m agitated most of the time. Thoughts are constantly rushing through my mind, being scattered all over, and I find it hard to organize and control them. Painting helps me think in structured compositions. By searching for balance on the canvas, I find it in my mind as well. I paint with emotion. I express myself in brush strokes better than I am able to with words. This is my way of conveying the dynamic motion and inner energy that rushes inside of my mind. Instead of punctuation marks, I use color to direct the eyes. Just like interhuman communication, this process uses not only my hands, but also my entire body. After all, with every painting, I try to balance out the process of growing and maintaining found in both life and the act of creation.

A Chisinau, Moldova based artist by the name of Gabriela Fussa has been honing her skills in painting for the past several years. Originally an interior designer, Gabriela has blended her passion for art with her four years of experience in studying design and thus bringing about a perfect marriage of these two passions. Gabriela’s venture into mixed media painting allowed her to include yet another element of this union and this extended the range of her skills even further. Her use of colors and mediums in paintings have allowed her to challenge the boundaries of people’s perception of art. In her opinion the best starting point when it comes to the appreciation of modern art is that it is not to decide whether it is good or not, but to understand how it evolved from the classical style of Da Vinci to the pickled sharks and unmade beds of today.
