The inspiration for this ephemeral painting was and is the guiding visual delineation of a horizon line, that beautifully moves up and down depending on your location and where you are and what you choose to see. The colors of black, yellow and crimson fade in and out with a hazy fluidity that appear to open and close, move up and down, and diagonally, as they tease the eye with an illusionary permanence and then fuse with a momentary vision of clarity. The yellow lines that rise and shine, vary in width, and clarity of contour lines that are interspersed among the black and crimson colored shapes that form a contrasting visual arrangement and pattern of colors and movable fluid horizon lines that melt with the mat medium. All these contradictory visual elements invite the viewer to observe, fix a location, move on and then re- focus and realign their association of more than one horizon point that opens up, to begin the day and then dims in color. This composition, and asks the viewer to discover what they can imagine, and visualize based on their own illusionary, abstract and cognitive experience.
