About The Artwork

This compostion shows the Hemingway house at 907 Whitehead, Key West, with its wall built with stolen bricks. The right part of this painting shows the less famous Casa Antigua at 314 Simonton Street where arriving in Key West after having spent seven years in Paris, Hemingway was offered to stay, to wait the delivery of a new Ford he had ordered. During this two years at the then Trev-Mor Hotel, Hemingway fell in love with Key West and finished "A Farewell to Arms". This work was inspired to me during a stay of several months on my lover's (now husband) sailboat in Key West, Florida. This cosmopolitan city with a very rich architecture is the southernmost city in the USA.

Natalie L. fascination for the Impressionists led her to create her first paintings under this influence. As her tastes has been evolving towards modern and contemporary art, she has gradually moved away from figuration. After a career in the tourism industry, Natalie, a Parisian born artist, left the city life in 1999 to embark on a somewhat "bohemian life style". Traveling the South Pacific gave her the time and inspiration to fulfill her dream of becoming a full-time artist. One of the consequential experiences of her life was sailing around the world. That will lead her to live between Florida and the south west of France. She works in series and the themes and styles are influenced by that changing temporality. From figurative to abstract, from cubism to impressionism, from painting to sculpture, her very eclectic work reflects the pleasure she feel in experimenting. Her most recent work focus on new interpretation of cubism including figurative subjects matters.
