Oil on Italian fine weave canvas. (108 x 196 x 3 cm) (3ft x 6ft) Signed on the reverse. Shipped rolled (no hanging equipment included) Painted to the edges (see photos for details) This is the title painting from the Fugue States Collection exhibited in Magacin Cultural centre in Belgrade in 2019 - A powerful series of paintings inspired by questions about memory and identity. Fugue is a rich meditative painting, within the flowing movement of the painting are a series of half-formed things - shapes drawn out of the darkness. Inspired by fairy tales and the central theme of the Fugue - this painting has a great sense of movement. This painting captures the artists questions about the validity of memory, in particular the idea that the deeper we look inside the less clear our sense of external identity becomes. The artist created the painting in layers, each new layer hides parts of the one beneath, responding to it but altering it. Look at the detail detail photos to see traces of the lower layers and blurred sections as the bleed into one another. This intentional brushwork give the painting a sense of mystery and depth. Fugue is a powerful statement painting and is a great focal point for a social space. This painting will be shipped rolled in a tube, for protection, a local framer will be able to stretch the canvas easily. It is signed on the reverse and carefully packaged with a certificate of Authenticity from the artist's studio.

Genevieve Leavold is a British abstract Painter based in Frome, U.K. Predominantly known for her freeform, organic paintings, her reverence for spontaneous gesture in her paintings draws from Zen, Buddhism and other ancient Eastern philosophies which embrace the beauty of purposelessness and play. Her whole approach is one of immediacy, working wet colour into wet and layering glazes gives her work its recognisable softness and form. b.1980 Somerset UK. Genevieve Leavold originally trained and worked in Theatre Design before taking the decision to return her focus to painting. She completed studio courses at Central Saint Martin in 2007 and 2012. She has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and the USA and has work in private and corporate collections worldwide.
