About The Artwork

Staying with friends in Tuscany one summer I fell in love with the scent of the place. Being Canadian, I am used to nature smelling like pine needles and freshly cut grass, but tuscany had a calming scent, both sweet and refreshing. My Italian friend told me what I was smelling were the eucalyptus trees that thrived along the beaches in the warm climate. Eucalyptus trees look so normal, so inconspicuous, yet rubbing a Eucalyptus leaf between your fingers releases a powerful scent, renowned for its healing and calming benefits. My hobby for the vacation became fondling and plucking this magical plant. I believe this painting was inspired by nostalgia for my summer romance with a Eucalyptus tree. Painting comes stretched on a wood frame, and is ready to hang. No framing necessary :)
