Chartreuse Jungle Painting with Lions and Tigers and Bees, Oh my! Print

This exceptionally playful large painting features several pots and vases of flowers including an ornate orange pot adorned with a pattern of birds and stripes etched upon its surface in purple, white, and blue wax crayon, from which emerges a bouquet of pink tulips; two curving glass vases which lean in towards one another, each bursting with giant gerber daisies and other imaginary striped and speckled blossoms; a towering blue pot out of which a small orange tree grows, laden with citrus fruit; and a gravity defying red horse vase with white speckles like some sort of mad Yayoi Kusama homage. Small fat black and white bumblebees buzz around the vases while an array of fantastical creatures inspired by lions and tigers and cheetahs but with wings-- bumbletigers and lion-bees?-- fly about with nets or tennis racquets, catching or batting at the bees. The painting features a bold, chartreuse green background which coordinates beautifully with the pink and orange and green tones of the piece. The outlines are scrawled in wax crayon of various colors which adds to the delicious rainbow chaos of the composition. I had such fun working on this piece in stages over several weeks and hope that it brings someone similar delight once installed in its new home. It will ship, lovingly wrapped in acid-free glassine paper and padding and securely packaged in a box, from my home studio in Oakland, California.
