About The Artwork
This painting as a diptych is a combination of a structured, precisely measured color field contrasted by the use of a dance-like rhythm of spontaneous movements of color, design and texture. I mapped out the surface to create a grid framework, and then allowed myself to flow and move in and out of color applications of ink and centralized matte medium in each box to create of surface labyrinth of interwoven formations of color splashes. The myriad colored ink splashes explode on the surface accentuating, contradicting and wrestling with the color bursts next to one another. My goal was to construct a continuous surface landscape of color that feels like a tapestry of colored design, pattern and sensual almost erotic textured surfaces.
