Blue Dog with Cigar represents Calm in the face of the storm or "Grace under pressure". The dog calmly blows rings of smoke into the face of the storm cloud, he is sure of his capacity to overcome temporary trouble and come out the other side stronger than before. This is the second experiment in the new Aesthetic investigation I have been conducting by building the composition from this basic element of a pixel. As modernism began to break down color in Impressionism, then the Cubists began to fragment dimensions into polygons, this technique breaks down color and fragments reality in the fashion of 8 bit style pixels, with a touch of modern caricature, maintaining the fresh hard edge and bright colors of the minimalist and pop movements. This is the first of many experiments into this new territory of visual language. Pixelism is proving to be worth the effort, research and experimentation as a means of developing a modern visual language which can be inherent of this present era.
