About The Artwork
I need to confirm dimensions on this one, it is either 9x12 or 11x14. This vibrant maximalist composition, in my typical modernist Matisse-inspired style, is one of my favorite pieces, perhaps my favorite piece I have painted to date. It features a vase of proteas, banksias, and other flowers commonly found in perfect places like South Africa and Hawaii and Australia. These blossoms emerge from a playful emerald green vase upon which a cheetah (leopard?!) and monkey cavort with a fine feathered bird. The vermilion background is an ode to my dad's favorite color somewhere between orange and red and with a life entirely its own. This painting is on cradled birch board and will ship from my home studio in San Leandro, California.
