Closeup of the head made from 100 year old staircase.
Full image in my studio. Shoes made from Birch, body made from Boltic pine, arms and bag made from Elm and Ren respectively. Hair is upcycled acrylic cord and the eyes are ceramic.
I have created this piece by laminating pieces of timber of timber from a 100 year old staircase. The details on the head such as hair plugs, eyes, and teeth are made from ceramic. The hair is acrylic fibre. The bag is made from a Swedish native tree called Ren.
The character also holds a child's toy, a little Kangaroo. The shoes are fashioned fron Björk (Birch) and the legs and arms are made from Elm.
Wednesday's gone shopping portrays a carefree, wide eyed child. For some reason I thought of the character Wednesday from the Adams family when I created her. Hence the slightly scary appearance. She is available as seen in the picture free standing or with a flat 30cm x 30cm x 4cm stand made from laminated Oak.

Marc Rayner Born 1959 in Wollongong, N.S.W, Australia. Currently lives and works in central Sweden. The integration of quasi architectural and natural landscapes forms the spine of my social, historical and political commentary. Neoexpressionism is my sphere of operation. It suits my temperament. The Neoexpressionist genre also accurately reflects the distorted paradigm in which we live.
