About The Artwork
Carved from German Sandstone. Since my fairly recent move from Greece to Germany, I am beginning to adjust to the challenges of the local materials. Using locally sourced material is important. As a person concerned with sustainable living, I do not think it acceptable to pay huge summs of money to transport raw materials across the world, when equally good materials exist locally. Work recently sold.

Paul Wood is an English Sculptor now back on the Greek island of Corfu after several years working as Stonemason in Germany. He makes hand carved sculptures in wood and stone, prefering to work with locally found materials. Often these materials are from recycled sources. His work is mainly figurative, and explores the sensual nature of both the material and the human body.
