Sawubona Sculpture

Sawubona: I SEE YOU - South Africa I SEE YOU In Northern Natal in South Africa, the tribes greet each other with "Sawubona" Which is equivalent to saying "hello". The phrase "Sawu bona" literally is defined as "I see you". The reply "hello is "Sikhona" which is equivalent to saying "I am here". The order of this greeting exchange is important: UNTIL YOU SEE ME- I do not exist. Which means: when you see me you bring me into existence. The messsage is " A person is a person because of other people". As I was always interested about human being and his freedom. It is why I think this "seeing" is essential to human freedom. I get the chance to work with an african model who inspire me working to get in a sense of mystique head. I tried to modelling with sensitivity and the long neck give to this bronze bust a good sense of simple elegance and poetry. Edition of 12
