About The Artwork
Title : Polaris A free form circle within a circle is at the heart of this piece. The strong diagonal cut from corner to corner is employed to direct the light and dark along with the cut line of the circle shape. The verticals of wood have been shaped by sanding to give the piece some fluidity. The background is two layers of paint. The first is a selection of colours that keep within the line of the diagonal and circle shape. Over the colours are sections of black and white paint, these have been scratched back while still wet to subtly reveal the colour field underneath. To disrupt to continuity in the vertical stripes a single orange length and two blues are present. An intriguing contemporary piece of work. Made from birch plywood. Painted in acrylic. This piece measures: Height: 24 inches (61cm) Width: 33 inches (84cm) Depth: 1 inch (2.5cm) I have installed a recessed keyhole slot on the back. The piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall. I have signed and dated the piece on the reverse side.

Vince is a London born, Bath city based artist who's work offers an alternative to the conventional plane and shape of framed paintings by bringing his sculptural wall art to attention the viewer. He creates artworks that focus on the interaction of colours, shape and depth. The composition and palette choices are influenced heavily by his teenage years spent as a graffiti artist. The evolution of this, post-graffiti genre, is evident in his work by the way he carefully composes sculptures of spacial balance making use of geometric and abstract forms. Vince's skillset is based in fine woodworking that has been passed down through generations of Bauhaus orientated artisans in his family. The discovery of artists such as Paul Klee, Joan Miro and Wassily Kandinsky urged him to introduce colour to his sculptures. His artworks can be found in both private and corporate collections worldwide. The Bath Times have run features on his work over a number of publications. His pieces are constructed from premium birch ply. They are brush painted in artists quality acrylic paint.
