About The Artwork
Carved from a short section of old Oak taken from the building where I work. Probably about 350 years old. The base is an old brick from the same building. The two materials together form the basis for most of the old houses in this region.

Paul Wood is an English Sculptor now back on the Greek island of Corfu after several years working as Stonemason in Germany. He makes hand carved sculptures in wood and stone, prefering to work with locally found materials. Often these materials are from recycled sources. His work is mainly figurative, and explores the sensual nature of both the material and the human body.
