About The Artwork
A sction of old Oak removed during renovation work on my Workshop. Many houses here in north Germany are wood framed (Fachwerk), and can be up to three or four hundred years old. Sometimes sections need replacing. I feel that the old wood has a sense of its own history. Something of the spirit of the house is conveyed in the final sculpture.

Paul Wood is an English Sculptor now back on the Greek island of Corfu after several years working as Stonemason in Germany. He makes hand carved sculptures in wood and stone, prefering to work with locally found materials. Often these materials are from recycled sources. His work is mainly figurative, and explores the sensual nature of both the material and the human body.
