About The Artwork
A female head and half torso carved out of a piece of local (German) Cherrywood. This piece of wood was given to me as a Birthday Present. Cherry always has a wonderful colour and strong grain paturn. The hair and eyes are tinted darker. The stone base is of local Sandstone.

Paul Wood is an English Sculptor now back on the Greek island of Corfu after several years working as Stonemason in Germany. He makes hand carved sculptures in wood and stone, prefering to work with locally found materials. Often these materials are from recycled sources. His work is mainly figurative, and explores the sensual nature of both the material and the human body.
