About The Artwork
Humpbacks are among the most interesting whale species to observe, and they sometimes come close to the boat to check out the passengers. My Humpback whale is mounted on a natural stone, symbolic for Jeffrey's Ledge in the Gulf of Maine, where with some luck they can be observed making bubble circles and diving for food. I try to present these beautiful animals with correct proportions and coloration, and as all my other whales in this collection, these too are in the scale of 1:40, where 1" of sculpture length is equal to 3.33 ft. (40") of whale length. The base is included in the height of the sculpture indicated above.
