About The Artwork
The edges of black matt glazed tiles are sawn off because the glaze runs off there. After this, the tiles were placed on a wooden plate in a sloping square grid, which is clearly visible through the sawn edges. The outer tiles are cut to match the square plate of wood. After this, a square has been scratched into the glaze with diagonals. The lines become white because the white ceramic becomes visible under the black glaze. Themes by Nico Kok such as the use of properties of materials and the square are reflected in this work. The work is signed on the back.
