About The Artwork

This is a limited, hand pressed lino cut print run inspired by the African sun. In ancient history, the sun was worshipped as it was seen as the giver of life. The piece is meant to look unfinished to ad movement and dynamics. This also means that each print edition will be slightly different in its finish ensuring a one of a kind quality. As Mentioned this hand pressed print series in printed on Fabriano Rosaspina (60% Cotton) paper. Because of the big size of this print, I had to design a setup that would allow me to do multiple passes without loosing the registration between plate and paper. On average it takes about 2 hours to complete a print. First I ink the parts that I want to be solid black. Once those parts have been applied to the paper I will strategically start adding ink to the plate in order to achieve the unfinished look until I feel happy with the marks that were created.
