Castle Bravo - Framed Cyanotype Print - Limited Edition of 50

Handprinted cyanotype from an edition of 50 +5AP. Cyanotypes are an old photographic process discovered in 1842. I mix up the chemicals, paint them onto the paper and then expose the image using the sun as a light source. The negative used to make this print is made from one of my silverpoint drawings, not a photograph. The prints are exposed under the sun, the largest example of thermo-nuclear reactions in our solar system. Castle Bravo was the United States' first Hydrogen bomb. It was the most powerful nuclear device ever detonated by them.
