“6-gon 720º” is Alfons Forrellad. Only one edition was made. It is composed of 42 modular pieces, hexagonal origami of 44 cm in diameter. The work was made with lithography, printing technique using a grained plate. The paper used was Somerset Satin 250gsm. and Gamblin inks. It was printed at the Warringah Printmakers Studio, Manly Vale, NSW. Between August and October 2019. Signed with the artist's dry seal. A whole universe in a drop of water Modernist architect Antoni Gaudí said that "everything goes out of the great book of nature". It is virtually impossible to admire the series of “6-gon 720º” pieces by artist Alfons Forrellad to remember the hexagonal tiles of the walk of grace (Passeig de Gràcia) that Gaudí designed for La Pedrera. More than a hundred years ago and apparently antagonistic materials (cement and paper) separate pieces that are born from the search in the geometry of the laws that govern nature. And it is that an artist is related to the earth but also the product of a culture. In the lithographic engravings in Forrellad waterfall we find the imprint of the tradition in engraving of the school of Barcelona that had in Picasso and Miró some of the most international exponents. But the purified work, the coherence and the respect for the materials tie, an extremely sensitive and delicate work with the best of the Japanese oriental essence. The millennial engraving technique allows the artist to experiment with a fragile and organic support, treated with care and devotion, to transform the two dimensions into three from origami, breaking the barriers, following the concept of expanded painting. From an indirect technique that requires a great mental control for the workers who work in the door, the Anatomical Dietari traces a complex organic cartography of a water universe. A whole exercise of abstraction that hides eroded planetary surfaces, images that reminds a cellular microcosm of gold to the caress of human skin, engraved by life and experience.”
