Douglas Capron started to explore photography by developing film and printing in high school.A turning point came in his life after he moved to Montreal and saw his first Blues show and was inspired to start filming a documentary on that genre, focusing on Quebec musicians. He was awarded an Honorable Mention and public screening at the 1997 U.S. Super 8 Film & Digital Video Competition and Festival, for his film One Slice of Blues. This experience opened the door to photographing musicians and designing CD covers which inspired him to explore photography as an art form. Being invited in 2005 to exhibit his photographs of musicians in Italy convinced him to focus full time on the visual arts. .I am inspired by transformations and transitions that occur within nature, people and music. My photographic opportunities often arrive unexpectedly and I am always fascinated by how our perception of time alternates with various life experiences. I hope my work travels beyond graphic emotional impact and that it will provoke and sustain a subtle dialogue with the viewer.
