About The Artwork
Limited Edition of 10, color photograph on archival fine art paper. Image 12x12 on paper 16x16, signed & numbered with studio seal Memories. Dreams. Fantasy. Paths That Cross is some of each. Inspired by Victorian photography, the artistry of painter Gustav Klimt, and the writings of Alain Robbe-Grillet, the series is a carefully blended palette of jewel tones and textures suggesting another time and place. Photographed in the studio with the major elements being included in the photograph, each photograph is tone and further textures added to obtain the desired result. Sets, props, backgrounds and even textures are created for each session. Drawing on Victorian elements and often unrelated mythology, details are carried from one session to the next, building relationships within the series.

When working on personal projects, Michael may be found wandering the streets of major cities or the desolation of the desert southwest. Michael hosts and conducts fine art photgraphy workshops in his studio and on location in Death Valley, the Alabama Hills and the Owens Valley, and Joshua Tree.
