About The Artwork

This is a limited edition of 6 prints. My work process relies on "beginners mind" and flow of consciousness. Objects are selected that elicit memories, narratives, times past, feelings or poetry, a very intuitive process. The selected objects are photographed multiple ways, then edited down and assembled and transformed into a new contemporary photograph. In this image, the wing is assembled from a pair of white 1950's gloves. Drawn to supple surface texture and soft forms, the gloves are inspiration for an ongoing series of assemblage photos featuring the form of a wing in many configurations. The abstract nature of the images invites the viewer to bring their interpretation to the image, creating a rich, imaginative and ongoing experience. I am inspired by Picasso, in using the everyday object as source material and placing the objects in unusual and slightly surreal contexts. The print is 20 x 30 on 100% cotton rag Somerset Velvet paper which has the feel of watercolor paper. The inks are 100% archival and fade resistant and have a rich depth of saturation . Giclée prints are valued for being of the highest quality and process produces a beautiful and sensual work that has the feel and look of silkscreen. Giclée prints are museum worthy and highly valued.

New ideas are sparked by instant, spontaneous connection to the material. Crushed cardboard, concrete and rough textures are the raw vocabulary I use to build visual metaphors for the human condition in all its darkness, joy, pain and courage. Moving fluidly between sculpture and photography work evolves over time, one idea leading to another intuitively. Construction is vigorous, fun. Determined.
