I started my career as an artist when I realized that I wanted to explore the combination of fresh flowers and sumi ink and use them to represent a certain philosophy of life. Modern living has led people to become disconnected--we have lost touch with feeling alive. In my artwork, I try to depict the flowers as being born from Sumi ink so that my audience can feel a burst of life’s energy. Using fresh flowers, I wish for people to feel the beauty of living from moment to moment. Flowers are ever changing yet constant in its pattern of life and death. My artwork also represents the Japanese proverb, "Ichi-go-Ichi-e”. Literally translated, this means "one time, one meeting”. It is a cultural concept of treasuring encounters with people because they may never happen again. Therefore, each interaction must be savored as once-in-a-lifetime. Similarly, my artwork involves fresh flowers in a state of transience. As time passes, the flowers change; one moment is never the same as the next. When I combine my sumi ink work with specific flowers that I pick from moments of inspiration, ink and flower become one – a unified artform. This creative encounter continues until the flower decays. After a patron purchases my artwork and the fresh flowers wither, they will have the opportunity of picking their own flower and creating their own artistic encounter. My artwork then becomes a collaboration—a treasured encounter—between me and my patron. ※This size(11.8×11.8×2.8 inch) is frame size.

Japan
I began my career as an assistant graphic designer in three design offices in Tokyo. In 2003, after a decade of working as an assistant designer, I became an independent-freelance designer, and started exploring and practicing calligraphy in 2005, Japanese flower arrangement in 2008 which I unite in my three dimensional art work today. The idea for my collage work came from the Japanese concept of "Kintsugi", which is the art of fixing broken pottery by applying golden lacquer on the cracks, making something imperfect even more beautiful. Through my art work, I show how I accept and live with my own imperfections, or the scars from her past, emphasizing the grace that can come from one's brokenness. I have shown my artwork at solo and group exhibitions in NY, Paris, Tokyo.
