Daniel is a London-born (1988) photographer who has always enjoyed the escapism of fairytale Hollywood endings. His work is a highly stylised and idealistic version of day-to-day moments that he captures free-hand to bring perfect moments taken in one single frame onto paper. His works have an almost dream-like feel and take inspiration from both the minimalistic style painters of his childhood, such as Rothko, but also from the sets of old fashioned movies and stage shows. Daniel contrasts painted-like pastel colours with extreme digital clarity to bring an ethereal calm to his works. The accentuation of natural light and the lack of staging are hallmarks of Daniel’s personal photographic style as is the blurring of the lines between painting and photography whilst refraining from additions by photoshop or AI. Whilst some of his pieces have a darker story to tell, such as struggles with mental health and drug addiction, Daniel aims to bring the possibility of a happy ending to all his pieces, allowing the viewer a moment to day-dream about a life lived through rose-tinted glasses.
