Lion cubs rarely sit still and if they do they are probably sleeping, as such venturing into the wilds of Botswana's Selinda Region with the aim of capturing the emotion on the face of a cub was no easy task. This cub took a break from playing with its siblings for a time and glanced into the morning's golden sunshine. The expressive face is highlighted by the tones and shadows of the light and the cub looks almost contemplative. The texture of the whiskers, the tufts of the ears and the glint in the eyes really bring the photo to life.
