DEFENSIVE STRUCTURES UNDERGROUND is the latest series of photos – part of the bigger cycle of digital works under the title of Defensive Structures. Digital photos, that are dealing with the question of the position of a person in it’s surroundings, the relation with the surroundings, defensive mechanisms, psychological as well as the physical ones, exploring the personal fears, success or failure within the community, symbolical revealing of the personal position. Emphasizing and repeating of segments of architectural compositions, the feeling of alienation is intensified, and ever-present, material and tangible solitude is accentuated. For the sake of some fictive comfort, we are becoming more and more isolated, and limited by our own irrational wishes. We are limiting not only the physical, but also mental, emotional and intellectual space... These photos represent visual document, but they are not only the part of documentation, they represent the question and the answer of what surrounds and burdens the contemporary man. The works are dark, and the accents of light are rare. Artificial light appears in traces, while the darkness prevails. Some photographs are intended as a frozen film frames, and the viewer is left to detect and recognize the details that are hiding in the dark.
