This image if part of my Contrast Series. Walking around South Tyrol in late autumn is a glorious experience. You are surrounded by large expanse of undulating golden pastures, littered with farmers huts and snowed mountain peaks as the perfect backdrop. You are reminded of the equilibrium that can exist between man and nature. A way of living that emphasizes harmony, balance and renewal in all things. The silence is calming to the mind, the air is soothing to the lungs and the view is nourishing to one’s imagination. Nature is nurtured and respected here. This is all in stark contrast to the endless buzzing in metropolitan cities around the world. Contrast is a beautiful thing is it not? Would you be able to enjoy the warmth of summer without the cold of winter? Would you feel as triumphant during the highs of your life if you had no lows at all? Would you be able to cherish order in society if there existed no periods of chaos? I hope you enjoy this series of images as I enjoyed making them.

Growing up on the coast of the Atlantic ocean and close to the equatorial rain forest instilled in me a fascination for the natural world which has never diminished as I have grown older. As a child, my grandma taught me to tell the time by tracking the position of shadows created by the sun. On most days after school, I and my friends would wonder into the nearby forest and pick ripe fruits from trees. At other times we would play football on the beach and go for a swim afterwards. These early interactions with the outside world was the beginning of my appreciation of the beauty, vastness and complexity of nature and our place in it as humans. Going to industrial Germany and studying Software Engineering illuminated both the extraordinary power of technology and its limitations as well. I am beholding and inspired by different ways we live and communicate in diverse environments. My photography is an expression of this diversity that I observe and live. I do not seek to impose my view of the world into my photographs but rather just capture the world as is.
