About The Artwork

Alice resides on the fragile boundary between reality and fantasy. Her journey transcends the mere coincidence of falling down the rabbit hole; it is the beginning of an internal odyssey, a symbolic descent into the nooks and crannies of the self, where the very foundations of imposed authority are questioned. Alice becomes the voice of a generation that challenges the established order, finding refuge in the rabbit hole, a space to escape, to become someone else, and explore unknown dimensions of herself. Imagination becomes the guiding thread that allows Alice to defy not only the laws of Wonderland but also the conventions of the real world. Freedom manifests in her ability to create and redefine her environment, to challenge the limits of what is considered possible. Alice personifies a generation gap, embodying the struggle between the established and the emerging. She plunges into an ocean of emotional and psychological challenges, facing despair, anxiety, and emotional sensitivity that resonates in her quest to understand an absurd and bewildering world. Boundaries blur, reflecting Alice's ongoing struggle in a world riddled with contradictions. Instead of passively accepting what is presented to her, she questions, challenges, and seeks her own path. This image invites us to question our own limits and embrace the freedom born from imagination. Alice becomes a symbol of courage and determination, confronting challenges with a blend of curiosity and cunning. She reminds us that in the face of the unknown, true growth lies in the ability to question, learn, and adapt.

Carlos Henaine was born in 1971 in Puebla, Mexico, and holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the Universidad de las Américas, Puebla. His self-taught training as a designer led him to establish EXPLORARE, a design studio that began its activities in 1997, coinciding with the internet boom. In its early days, the studio focused on multimedia design and web development. From the year 2002 onwards, he decided to expand the studio's activities to meet the demands of visual communication, including corporate identity, editorial design, packaging, and environmental design. In 2008 and 2011, he was honored with the Quórum Award and has won a silver mention, three bronze mentions and a total of ten finalist works in that contest. In 2009, the INBA awarded him an honorary mention in the Fifth National Design Biennial. Between 2007 and 2015, he won seven first places in the a! Diseño Awards. In 2012, he was selected to be part of the first Mexican Design Directory 2012, co-edited by Centro and ProMéxico. In 2014, he was invited to participate as a judge in the a! Diseño Awards. In 2016, he received an honorary mention in the first edition of the Diseña México Award. To date, his work has been published in nine books by HOW and Rockport Publishers, internationally recognized authorities in the field of graphic design. As a specialist in visual communication, he currently explores different paths in the expression of visual arts, using photography as a medium to create art. He portrays human reality through the rawest and most authentic emotions, capturing the interplay of darkness and light in people. As an emerging artist, he has participated in several group exhibitions and presented his first solo exhibition in 2023 at a renowned art gallery in his hometown.
