I love the Wizard of Oz and my favorite part is when Glenda the Good Witch tells Dorothy she doesn’t need to be helped any longer, that she has always had the power to go back to Kansas. But she had to learn it for herself. This painting is inspired by that idea, that the power we’re looking for is already inside us waiting to be discovered. I used a palette knife and gold metallic paint for the crown, and a gold frame so the whole thing shines.
