About The Artwork

The viewer's sensibilities would interpret this work through its title in either of 2 ways - As a modern working girl having a quiet moment at her window or in the slang interpretation of a prostitute. Either way it is only the superficial story, I wanted to depict so much more here: The setting - a wooden building in a rundown condition, the elements of decay are evident in the faded and stained paintwork, the tattered lace curtain. What may be seen in the dark room is just a bed and a crucifix on the wall. Reflections - the window reflection shows simple power lines, maybe a poor country or a rural area. There's a vented roof, what story lies below it? Birds fly free around it. The figure - she looks out, a reflective mood, her head behind the glass means that her mind is her own, her thoughts belong to her. The edge of a tattoo, a sliver of pink lace underwear, the contemporary hairstyle, a woman awake to style and fashion. Painted in my usual limited palette of Indigo, Indian Yellow and Quinacridone Rose on Arches cold pressed paper.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I have drawn for as long as I can remember, my childhood endeavours becoming more proficient through my determined practice over the years. Throughout my adult life I have continued to draw, an activity that gives me great pleasure and satisfaction. I am an enthusiastic student of the techniques of the Old Masters and their widely varying portrayals of the human body, common to all, unique to each, and always challenging and inspiring to depict creatively. I am self-taught and paint in watercolour and, more recently, acrylic. I use a limited palette and only 3 or 4 top-quality brushes. I utilise the storehouse of impressions I have built up from my travels as a musician. My subconscious reworks these initial ideas in vivid, remembered dreams which become the inspirations for my work. www.studiobluesea.com www.studiobluesea.wordpress.com
